Troubleshooting · Installing and updating
Install or update stuck? Restart your Mac
Short answer
Restart your Mac, then run the Cuddle installer again. After some Creative Cloud updates, Adobe’s plugin installer, which Cuddle uses to add its panel to Premiere Pro, stops responding until the Mac restarts.
What you see
- The Cuddle installer spins on Installing Cuddle and never finishes.
- An update stops at around 94 to 96 percent and doesn’t move.
- After about three minutes, the install stops with Failed to install, status = -642.
Fix it
Restart your Mac. A full restart clears Adobe’s stuck background services.
- Apple menu
- Restart
Run the Cuddle installer again. Open Cuddle Installer from the Cuddle DMG. It repairs Cuddle in place and keeps your skills, and this time the install finishes normally.
Restart Premiere Pro. Then open the Cuddle panel and check that it says Connected and shows the new version.

Why it happens
Cuddle adds its panel to Premiere Pro with Adobe’s own plugin installer, which comes with Creative Cloud Desktop. After some Creative Cloud updates, that installer stops responding until the Mac restarts. Cuddle itself installs fine. Only the step that adds the panel waits on Adobe.
Optional: check Adobe’s installer
If you’re comfortable with Terminal, you can check Adobe’s plugin installer before you restart. Paste this into Terminal. If it lists your plugins within a few seconds, Adobe’s side is fine. If it hangs, restart your Mac first.
