Guide · Getting started

Your first edit

Short answer

Open your project in Premiere Pro, start a new chat in your AI app, and describe the edit in plain words. Your AI plans it, and Cuddle makes it in Premiere Pro, usually in a brand-new sequence.

Make your first edit

  1. Open your project in Premiere Pro. Cuddle works with the project that’s open in Premiere Pro. Make sure the Cuddle panel says Connected.

    1. Window
    2. UXP Plugins
    3. Cuddle
    4. Cuddle
  2. Start a new chat. Open the AI app you chose during install and start a fresh chat. You type your requests there, not in Premiere Pro. Mention Cuddle so your AI knows to use it.

  3. Ask in plain words. Describe the result you want, the way you’d brief an assistant editor. For example: “Use Cuddle to pull every moment where she talks about her first camera into a new sequence.”

  4. Let it work. Your AI looks at the project, reads the transcripts, and builds the edit one step at a time. If a clip hasn’t been transcribed yet, Premiere Pro transcribes it first, which can take a few minutes for long footage.

  5. Review the result. Watch the new sequence in Premiere Pro. Ask for changes in the same chat, like “tighten the gaps” or “swap the second and third clips.”

Good first requests

  • “Cut my interview down to the best two minutes in a new sequence.”
  • “Find every time he says ‘budget’ and add a marker there.”
  • “Put a title that says ‘Chapter One’ at the start, centered.”
  • “Add a compressor to the clips I selected.”
  • “Fade the music out over the last three seconds.”

What to expect

Rough cuts go into a new sequence, so your original timeline stays as it was. Every change Cuddle makes shows up in Premiere Pro’s History panel, labeled “Cuddle:”, so you can undo it like any other edit. Your AI also looks at frames from the finished timeline to check what actually landed.
